At the age of 13, I saw potential in every opportunity. When I heard about a youth scholarship program teaching beekeeping, I knew I had to be a part of it. Surprisingly, I developed a deep passion for beekeeping and the rest is history.

From Kid to Beekeeper: Our Journey

Growing up in rural Texas during the early 2000s, I explored various business endeavors, but nothing seemed to fit perfectly. Then, in 2002 at 12 years old, I won a beekeeping scholarship that changed everything. I fell in love with beekeeping and built my first structure using lumber from trees on my parents' land. Despite its basic amenities, it was a perfect starting point. Selling my honey to a local health food store called "Mikes" made me believe I had made it big.

As orders increased, I expanded my beekeeping operation and personally delivered each case of honey in my grandfather's truck, working tirelessly day and night. During my senior year, I faced a decision: attend college or pursue beekeeping full-time. I was honored to become the president of the Texas Beekeepers Association and a director for the American Beekeeping Federation.

Little did I know, I had already met my future wife two years prior. By graduation, I was convinced that she was the one I had to marry. At 20, I married Kathleen, and our honeymoon was the longest time I had been away from bees since I was 12.

Since then, our company has flourished, with thousands of beehives under our care. However, we treat each jar and beehive as if it were our first. I also have the privilege of serving on the National Honey Board and the American Beekeeping Federation to promote honey and beekeeping. Beekeeping has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and even as we grow, we remain dedicated beekeepers first and foremost.
